Anna Crank Named to All-SLIAC Second Team
FULTON, Mo. – Eureka College senior outside hitter Anna Crank (Washburn, Ill./Midland H.S./Clarke) has been selected to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Second Team, according to an announcement at Saturday's SLIAC Tournament in Fulton, Mo. Crank is the Red Devils' first volleyball All-SLIAC choice since 2014.
A transfer from NAIA Clarke in Dubuque, Iowa, Crank finished her only season in a Eureka uniform with 337 kills, 10th-most in single-season EC history. She also led EC with 307 digs in 2017 and joins Carrie Eisenbarth (2001, 2002), Stephanie Logan (1997, 1998) and Candace Sheley (2001) as the only Red Devils to compile at least 330 kills and 300 digs in the same season. Crank also compiled 44 total blocks, 12 assists and 11 service aces. She was responsible for 375.5 of EC's 1,279 points earned in 2017.
In 18 matches against SLIAC opponents, Crank ranked fourth among league players with 235 kills, fifth with 3.56 kills per set and eighth with a .242 hitting percentage.
Saturday's announcement marks EC's first All-SLIAC honoree in volleyball since then-sophomore Michaela Balducci was named to the Third Team in 2014.
Eureka senior Meagan Hanney (Sherman, Ill./Williamsville H.S.) was the Red Devils' representative on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. One player from each league institution is nominated for the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Greenville's Allyson Mitchell was chosen SLIAC Player of the Year. Mia Gill of Principia was voted SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year and GU's Anna Finch was the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year. Natalia Koryzna of regular-season champion Westminster and Mary Ann Sprague of Principia shared SLIAC Coach of the Year honors. Greenville rallied from two sets down to beat host Westminster in the SLIAC Tournament championship match last Saturday in Fulton.
