Senior Spotlight: Elizabeth Horning

Senior Spotlight: Elizabeth Horning

Eureka College sports information director Alex Hess caught up with senior Elizabeth Horning of the women's swimming & diving team for the eleventh release of the 2015-16 weekly Senior Spotlight series that will have new seniors interviewed on selected Wednesday's.

Q. What is your greatest athletic memory at Eureka College?

My greatest athletic memory at Eureka College is actually from my freshman year. We had just found out, before our biggest meet, that our coach wouldn't be able to come back for the next season, which was really sad, but I think that because of it, we really came together as a team and supported each other and that ended up being one of the best meets we had that season. I think it definitely goes to show what teammates are capable of even in difficult times.

Q. Describe yourself in one sentence?

I am a quiet, friendly person who doesn't give up easily when faced with a challenge.

Q. Aside from playing (sport), what are some of your other passions?

Other than swimming, I really enjoy singing in the chorale and teaching swim lessons to little kids.

Q. What do you plan on doing after graduation from Eureka College with your (degree)?

After graduation, I plan on teaching high school chemistry and/or math with my double major in Chemistry and Secondary Education with Math Licensure.

Q. What is one piece of advice you would give an incoming freshman?

My advice to incoming freshmen would be to enjoy your time here but don't forget why you came here in the first place.
