Eureka Falls at Principia, 8-0

ELSAH, Ill. – After getting postponed due to inclement weather on Tuesday, the Eureka women's soccer team opened St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with an 8-0 loss at Principia on Wednesday.

The Panthers tallied six goals in the first half and added two more in the second.

Eureka's Jurnee Flournoy (Decatur, Ill./Decatur MacArthur) recorded a shot on goal for the Red Devils, and Elizabeth Rensman (Mechanicsburg, Ill./Sangamon Valley) had a shot as well. Goalkeeper Gabby Penberthy (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) notched five saves in the net.

Principia's Dachelle Carter posted a hat trick for the home team, while Rachael Williams and Sarah Smith each had two goals. Zayana Cater netted the last goal in the final minute.

Sixteen players contributed for the Red Devils.

Eureka (0-6. 0-1 SLIAC) will next travel to Mississippi over the weekend to take on Mississippi University for Women (1-4, 0-1) for the first time in program history on Sunday at 3 p.m. The Owls fell 3-2 against Spalding in their first-ever SLIAC contest on Friday.
