CARLINVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team took down Blackburn 2-0 on Wednesday, completing a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season series sweep of the Beavers.
Jenna Kinney (Washington, Ill./Washington) led the way, depositing two goals in the second half. It was her second multi-goal performance of the season and her sixth of the season.
Isabella Tolentino (Mendota, Ill./Mendota) assisted her on the first of the match in the 54th minute. Daniela Gonzales (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods/Lincoln) assisted Kinney on the second in the 86th. It was Gonzales' second assist of the year and Tolentino's first.
The Red Devils outshot the Beavers 15-10 on the match and notched six more shots on goal, recording 11 to the home team's five.
Kinney recorded four shots on goal for the visitors, while Gonzales and Sydney Gabbard (Stilesville, Ind./Stilesville) each had two. Tolentino, Abby Mitchell (Peoria, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) and Emma Jones (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln) all had one.
On the other end of the pitch, goalkeeper Lizzie Brooksher's (Saint Charles, Mo./Saint Charles) posted Eureka's third clean sheet of the year. The freshman made five saves in 90 minutes in net.
The win was the Red Devils' sixth straight over Blackburn dating back to spring 2022.
Eureka is now 3-8 on the season and 2-7 in SLIAC play. The Red Devils (3-8, 2-7 SLIAC) will next host Spalding (5-6, 4-4 SLIAC) at McKinzie Field on Saturday at 12 p.m.
