Red Devils Fall to Mount Mary Friday, 5-1

EUREKA -- The Eureka College women's soccer team set a new season high with 16 shot attempts and Phoenix Johnson (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) scored her second collegiate goal in the 81st minute, but the Red Devils came away empty-handed in a 5-1 non-conference loss to Mount Mary, Friday night at Traister Field.

Karina Salgado scored three times for the visitors, including the match-winning goal with just 1:18 left in the first half. MMU led 2-0 at intermission.

Johnson got the Red Devils on the board at 80:13 on the first career assist from Sarah Domkowski (Willowbrook, Ill./Hinsdale South H.S.). Johnson finished the match with eight shot attempts, four of which were on frame. Mecayela Monroe (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield H.S.) and Dilyara Coovert (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) registered three shots apiece Friday.

Eureka will return to action Thursday versus Faith Baptist Bible at 4 p.m., the sixth of seven consecutive home matches to begin the season.
