Francis' Late Goal Lifts Eureka Over Iowa Wesleyan

EUREKA, Ill. – Freshman Riley Francis (Deer Grove, Ill./Bereau Valley), playing in just her second collegiate game, took a pass from fellow freshman Mecayla Monroe (Litchfield, Ill./Litchfield) and deposited the game winning goal in the 75th minute, leading the Eureka College women's soccer team to a 2-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Iowa Wesleyan, Tuesday afternoon at Traister Field.

Monroe put Eureka on top first with a score in the 35th minute on a long pass from junior Lexi Marsalle (Princeton, Ill./Princeton). The Tigers netted the equalizer just over six minutes later to even the score at intermission.

Junior goalkeeper Kalionna Mathews (Troy, Ill./Triad) collected two saves on the way to her fourth victory decision on the season.

Eureka (4-9-1, 1-4-0) will continue conference play on Thursday with a 3 p.m. contest against the Blackburn Beavers.
