SLIAC All-Academic Release

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Five Eureka College student-athletes have qualified for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Fall All-Academic Team, according to an announcement from the league office Thursday. Student-athletes that earn the honor must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have completed one year at their current institution.

The women's soccer teams led the department with three selections, with seniors Faith Williams (Robinson, Ill./Robinson) and Kayleigh Choma (Austintown, Ohio/Fitch) and junior Emily Phillips (Philo, Ill./Unity) highlighting the group. Williams and Choma were members of last fall's All-Academic Team.

Senior men's soccer player Josh Newell (Morton, Ill./Morton) made the list for the second consecutive season and sophomore volleyball player Meagan Hanney (Sherman, Ill./Williamsville) made the team in her first season eligible.

A total of 156 student-athletes from the SLIAC member schools qualified for the All-Academic Team. This marks the highest total of student-athletes receiving academic All-Conference honors in the fall since the award was first handed out in 2001. The league also announces All-Academic Teams after the winter and spring seasons.
