Mike Hedrick was named Eureka College women's basketball coach on Oct. 10, 2023.

Hedrick is the 14th head coach in Eureka women's basketball history. He brings 14 years of experience as a college and high school coach to the sidelines for the Red Devils.

"We are thrilled to announce Coach Hedrick as the newest member of our athletic department," Shaw said. "He has such enthusiasm for the game of basketball and the student-athlete experience, unmatched attention to detail and experience building successful programs.

"Our program is very fortunate to have him at the helm, and we are looking forward to seeing him lead it into this exciting chapter."

Hedrick will be returning to the college ranks after previously serving as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at two NCAA Division II institutions, Francis Marion and University of Charleston. From 2016-2023, he compiled a 123-53 overall record as a head coach in the high-school ranks in Virginia and Georgia.

"I am grateful for this opportunity to serve Eureka College and for the belief Athletic Director Mrs. Shaw and President Dr. Wright have shown in me with this appointment," Hedrick said. "I am going to hit the ground running, build on the many positives of this program and college, and we will compete at a championship level."

A Hickory, North Carolina native, Hedrick started off his coaching career as an assistant coach at Hickory High School and helped the team compile a 112-9 record from 2010-2014.

After two seasons as a DII assistant, he spent one year as a head coach at Patrick County High School in Stuart, Virginia, then led an impressive program turnaround at Patrick Henry High School in Roanoke, Virginia.

When he took over, Patrick Henry-Roanoke had won 11 games in the previous four seasons. Over the next four seasons, the PH became one of the premier teams in the entire state, recording a 74% winning percentage while capturing three district-level and two regional championships, making two elite eight appearances and one final four appearance, and competing in the 2021 VHSL 5A State Championship. Hedrick was selected 2020 VHSL State Coach of the Year and received three district and regional coach of the year honors during this time.

The following season, Hedrick and his wife, Agaisha, moved to Georgia to help open the doors of a brand-new school. In two seasons at East Forsyth, the program was ranked in the top 10 in the state and reached back-to-back GHSA Sweet 16s.

Hedrick received his bachelor's degree in physical education and health from Lenoir-Rhyne University in 2014. He attained his master's in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia University-Irvine in 2020, and he has taught health, marketing, business, physical education and finance at several schools.
