Eureka’s Josie Ness Receives Third Team All-SLIAC Honors

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Eureka's Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) has been selected to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Third Team.

The Junior forward started in all 24 games for the Red Devils this season, averaging a double-double per game with 10.0 points per game and 12.4 boards per game. Ness led the conference in rebounds, collecting 308 boards in SLIAC play, 94 more than anyone else in the conference. She was also 2nd in the conference in blocks, recording 43 against conference opponents. Over the course of the season, Ness amassed a remarkable eleven double-doubles.

Ness stepped up as a leader for the maroon and gold this season, improving in nearly every category from last season; her 10.0 points per game was up from 5.7 points per game and her 12.4 rebounds per game up from 7.2 last season. She shot 39.7 percent from the field, improving from 32.6 percent last year. She also came away from the 2023-24 season with 5 more assists, 12 more steals, and 25 more blocks than in 2022-23.

On November 25th at Knox, Ness dropped a career-high 19 points. Just seven days later, she put up another 19 points on the road at Blackburn. On three occasions this season, Ness picked up a career-high 19 rebounds off the glass: at Blackburn, at Fontbonne, and at home against Lyon.

For her impressive start to the season and standout performance against Blackburn in December, Ness was selected as SLIAC player of the week. Ness finished the season with 240 points, 297 rebounds, 25 assists, 38 steals and 39 blocks.

Junior Hannah Burkiett (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) was Eureka's representative on the SLIAC All-Sportsmanship team.
