Red Devils Fall at Webster, 90-64

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Eureka women's basketball team couldn't slow down St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference leader Webster on Wednesday.

The Gorloks extended their winning streak to eight and improved to 10-1 in league play with a 90-64 win over the Red Devils.

Eureka's Sydney Hannam (Canton, Ill./Canton/Spoon River) dropped a game-high 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting. It was her 12th 20-point game of the season.

Abby Stotler (Wyoming, Ill./Stark County/MacMurray) added 11 points and gathered five rebounds. Josie Ness (Sandwich, Ill./Sandwich) pulled down seven rebounds, tying with Webster's Julie Baudendistel for a game high.  

Madi Jernigan (Peoria, Ill./Limestone/Blackburn) and Shakaya Rogers (Hanover, Mich./Concord/Glen Oaks) added eight and six points, respectively.

Baudendistel led the way for the Gorloks, posting a team-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting in 23 minutes of play. Kate Rolfes followed with 18 points on 5-of-7 shooting, along with a game-high five steals. Emily Wilson added 12 points off the bench.

The Red Devils got off to a slow start and fell into a hole in the first half. The visitors improved from 29 percent shooting in the first half to 50 percent in the second.

Eureka forced Webster to turnover the ball 20 times to the tune of 17 points, but the Gorloks notched 29 forced turnovers and converted them into 39 points.

The Red Devils (6-17, 3-8 SLIAC) will return to their home court inside Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center to host Fontbonne (12-10, 7-4 SLIAC) on Saturday at 1 p.m.
