Red Devils Blitz Rockford, 82-53

EUREKA – Eureka earned its second non-conference victory of the 2018-19 season Saturday afternoon at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center in an 82-53 rout of Rockford.

Eureka's 82 points scored marked its largest offensive output versus a non-conference Division III opponent since a 96-56 win at Wooster on Dec. 21, 2017. The final 29-point margin also represented the Red Devils' biggest win over Rockford since a 68-38 victory in the old Northern Illinois-Iowa Conference on Feb. 21, 1998.

Samantha Sarnes (Havana, Ill./Havana H.S.) came off the bench to lead a balanced scoring effort from the Red Devils with 15 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) tacked on 11 points and Sierrah Seals (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora H.S.) scored 10 in a reserve role.

Eureka led 17-9 after one period and erupted for 29 points in the second quarter, taking a commanding 46-22 advantage into halftime. The hosts outrebounded Rockford 48-38 thanks in part to a game-high 10 boards from Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw H.S.).

The Red Devils will take a two-game win streak into Tuesday's 5:30 p.m. start at Monmouth.
