Spalding shoots past Eureka in SLIAC action

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eureka College women's basketball junior forward Michaela Balducci (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) scored a career-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season, but the Spalding Golden Eagles controlled the contests in a 68-54 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, Saturday afternoon inside Derek Smith Gymnasium in Louisville, Ky.
 
Freshman guard Samantha Sarnes (Havana, Ill./Havana) added 11 points off the bench for EC, her second game in double-figures this season. Senior guard Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) dished four of Eureka's 12 assists. EC got 15 points off 15 turnovers committed by the Golden Eagles.

SU's Alex Martin paced the host with 18 points, while Maddie Martin supplied 13 points and 11 rebounds to secure a double-double. Spalding outrebounded Eureka 62-42 and got 23 points from their bench.

Eureka will enjoy just over two weeks off from play, returning to the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center to face non-conference foe North Park on Sunday, Dec. 20. Tip-off is slated for 2:00 p.m.
