Red Devils roll in conference contests versus MacMurray

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College women's basketball senior guard Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) scored 23 points and freshman forward Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw) collected her first collegiate double-double (10 points, 11 rebounds), pacing the Red Devils to a 67-52 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the MacMurray Highlanders, Saturday afternoon in the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.

MacMurray opened up the day building an early 7-3 lead before the Red Devils scored the next 12 points to construct a 15-7 advantage with 2:19 remaining in the first frame of play.

Leading 20-13 after the first frame, the Red Devils began the second quarter with a Camden 3-pointer to push their lead to double figures, 23-13. The Highlanders sliced the deficit to 25-19 with 5:52 left, but Eureka built their lead back to double-digits and settled for a 36-25 lead heading into the locker room.

Eureka started the second half with a quick 8-0 burst to push the advantage to 44-25. EC's lead reached as high as 19 in the third frame when a layup by junior guard Luci Weis (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) pushed to score to 55-39 with 29 seconds to play.

The host controlled the final frame of play, pushing their lead past the 20-point mark, allowing for numerous reserves to see significant minutes of action. Senior forward Faith Williams (Robinson, Ill./Robinson) highlighted the bunch, securing four rebounds in four minutes of play.

MC's Kylie Dostin scored 11 points, while Brianna Markusic tallied 10 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Highlanders.
