EC women fall down stretch to Iowa Wesleyan

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College women's basketball senior Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) scored 14 points and junior Michaela Balducci (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) added 10, but Iowa Wesleyan outscored Eureka 30-21 in the second half to take a 59-53 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, Wednesday night inside the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.

The defeat drops the Red Devils to 9-13 overall and 8-7 in league play. Iowa Wesleyan improves to 16-6 overall and 11-4 in the SLIAC.

IW scored the first five points of the contests and eventually built a 17-10 lead only to see Eureka score the final eleven points of the quarter to lead 21-17. Eureka never trailed in the second quarter and took a 32-29 lead into the locker room. Camden provided ten of her 14 points on the night in the first half.

A three-point field goal by Kaylee Moselesy in the closing seconds of a tightly contested third quarter put the Tigers ahead for the first time in the second half. Eureka was unable to recover in the final quarter of play, as the visitor's lead slowly swelled.

IW's Rachel Williams scored a game-high 17 points on 7-of-11 (.636) shooting from the field. The Tigers outrebounded the Red Devils 43-30.

The Red Devils will play their final home game of the season on Saturday against the Fontbonne Griffins. SeniorsEmily Camden and Faith Williams will be honored prior to the 1 p.m. tip-off.
