Red Devils land five on SLIAC Winter All-Academic team

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College women's basketball players Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central), Faith Williams (Robinson, Ill./Robinson) and Katie Schwanke (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) as well as men's team members Michael Sain (Columbus, Ohio/Reynoldsburg) and Chet Griffith (Washington, Ill./Washington), each received All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic honors according to a league announced Friday morning.

In order to be earn All-Academic team honors, a student-athlete must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have been enrolled in at least one full year at their current institution.  Sixty-five basketball student-athletes and all 10 SLIAC institutions were represented on the 2015-16 team.

Camden, an athletic training major, is a three-time selection to the all-academic team, earning the recognition in all three seasons of eligibility. Williams, a two-time Fall All-Academic team member for women's soccer, is a psychology and chemistry double-major and Ronald W. Reagan Fellow. Schwanke, a communications major, tallied a perfect 4.0 grade point average in her first year of eligibility for the award.

Sain is back on the all-academic team where he was a member last spring and also after his sophomore basketball campaign (2013-14). Sain is a business administration major and Reagan Fellow. Like Schwanke, Griffith is also a first-time honoree in his first year of eligibility. The Washington, Ill. native is majoring in social sciences.
