JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka softball team fell in a pair of non-conference contests at Illinois College on Sunday.

The home team took Game 1, 9-1, and then pulled away for a 13-5 victory in five innings in Game 2.

Game 1: Illinois College 9, Eureka 1

The Red Devils plated the first run of the game in the first inning, with Delaney Douglas (Sugar Grove, Ill./Kaneland) driving in Gada Bryant (Westville, Ill./Bismark-Henning/Rossville-Alvin/Lincoln).

Illinois College, however, then evened the score in the first innings, took the lead with a pair of runs in the second, and eventually, rallied for six more in the fourth inning.

Douglas went 2-for-2 at the plate with the team's lone RBI. Bryant, Bre Dixon (Newark, Ill./Newark Community) and Carmen Howard (Warrensburg, Ill./Warrensburg-Latham) each had a hit for EC as well.

Game 2: Illinois College 13, Eureka 5 (5 inn.)

The Red Devils had more success at the plate in Game 2 than in Game 1.

They tallied five runs on eight hits, but it wasn't enough to keep up with Illinois College, which posted 13 on eight hits and scored at least one run in each of the first four innings.

The home team put up four in the first inning, and after Eureka plated two in the second, it added five more in the second to take a 9-2 lead.

Bryant produced a two-run single in the second inning, but the Red Devils ended up leaving a pair on base. Lexi Liptak (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) scored on a wild pitch in the third and Klaire Morris (Billings, Mont./Billings Skyview/Williston State) stole home during a three-hit third inning that made it 9-4.

The Red Devils held Illinois College to one run in the third and got one back with an RBI single by Ashlyn Voyles (Farmer City, Ill./Farmer City) in the fourth. Then, Illinois College came back with four more in the fourth to put it in run-rule territory.

Voyles went 3-for-3 to lead EC at the plate, while Bri Tanksley (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) added a pair of hits. Bryant, Morris and Chloe Smith (Sullivan, Ill./Sullivan) each had a hit as well.
