Eureka’s Claire Wuethrich Named SLIAC Pitcher of the Week

EUREKA – For the first time in her career, Eureka's Claire Wuethrich (Peoria, Ill./Peoria Christian) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week.

The Red Devils' sophomore ace picked up three wins in four appearances during Eureka's spring break trip last week. The brightest highlight was twirling a five-inning no-hitter in an 11-0 win over Saint Joseph (Conn.).  She threw 18 innings on the week and allowed nine earned runs while tallying seven strikeouts along the way.

She is the first Red Devil to be voted SLIAC Pitcher of the Week since Erin Smith on March 17, 2020 and the first-ever under third-year coach Juell Hodges.

The Red Devils are coming off a 5-2 showing at the 34th Annual Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic in Florida last week. They will take a 5-4 overall record into a home doubleheader against Mount Mary on Saturday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
