TERRE HAUTE, Ind.Adrianna Zeman (La Salle, Ill./La Salle-Peru H.S.) collected a career-high four hits in game one and Kali George (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) won her 44th career decision in the pitching circle in game two, leading the Eureka College softball team to a non-conference doubleheader sweep of Rose-Hulman, Thursday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind. The Red Devils downed the hosts 10-4 in game one and also won game two, 6-3.

With the victories, Eureka increased its win streak to a season-long six games. The Red Devils are 19-5 in 2018, three off the pace of the 2016 Red Devils that raced to a 22-2 record through their first 24 contests.

Game 1: EC 10, Rose-Hulman 4

Eureka controlled the opener from start to finish, scoring runs in each of the first five innings. Zeman paced the Red Devils' 16-hit attack with a 4-for-4 effort and three RBI. Morgan Osborn (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.), Gabby Wood (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) and Allison Cagley (Fairbury, Ill./Prairie Central H.S.) added three hits apiece while Osborn and Cagley each tacked on two RBI.

Erin Smith (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) won her third straight pitching start, striking out two in the full 7.0 innings. Smith is now 9-1 in the circle in 2018.

The Red Devils jumped on the Fightin' Engineers quickly, claiming a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to run-scoring hits by Wood and Zeman. Osborn's RBI single in the top of the second scored Cagley for a 3-0 cushion.

Zeman and Cagley pushed the score to 5-0 with RBI singles in the third, part of a four-run outburst that included a sacrifice fly from Deidra Whightsil (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall H.S.) another Osborn RBI that made it 7-0 in favor of the visitors. Eureka led by as many as nine when George and Cagley hit back-to-back run-scoring singles in the fourth for a 9-0 advantage.

Cassidy Yeomans got RHIT on the board with a two-out, two-run double into the right-center field gap in the bottom of the fourth. Zeman answered by driving in a run on her fourth hit of the day in the top of the fifth to lead 10-2. Rose-Hulman staved off the eight-run rule later in the frame and pulled within 10-4 on Maddie Struble's two-run double.

The Red Devils didn't score again, but neither did RHIT. Smith retired seven Fightin' Engineers in a row to finish the game-one win.

Game 2: EC 6, Rose-Hulman 3

George moved within one victory of tying the all-time Eureka record with a 7.0-inning complete game in which she struck out two. George now has 44 wins in her four-year career, one short of equaling Tina Sharp's program record of 45 set between 1993 and 1996.

Kerrigan Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) went 3-for-3 for the Red Devils, including a double and two RBI. Wood and Zeman each went 2-for-4.

Like game one, Eureka built an early lead in the first inning and never trailed in the contest. Wood's infield single, coupled with an RHIT error, allowed Osborn to race home for the first run of the game. Zeman followed with a single that plated Dura and the EC advantage was 2-0 after one inning.

The Red Devils doubled their lead to 4-0 in the second inning on Dura's two-run double to center field.

Rose-Hulman pushed its first run of the game across in the third inning thanks to an RBI single by Jenny Miller. Eureka regained the four-run cushion two innings later on another big hit from Zeman, this time a two-out double that scored Wood for a 5-1 lead.

The Fightin' Engineers cut their deficit in half with a pair of runs in the sixth. Miller led off the inning with a walk and came around to score one batter later on Struble's double. Mandi Routon followed with a triple into the gap to plate Struble and Eureka's lead shrunk to 5-3. George recovered to retire the next three hitters and keep EC in front.

Eureka scratched across an insurance run in the seventh for a 6-3 lead when Dura hit a two-out single, stole second base and came around to score on Wood's single to left field. George kept the tying run out of the on-deck circle in the bottom of the frame, navigating around an infield single to give the Red Devils their first non-conference sweep on the road since taking two at Knox on April 25, 2017.
