Kerrigan Dura Named SLIAC Hitter of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College senior shortstop Kerrigan Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) has been selected St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, league office announced Monday. The announcement marks Dura's fourth career SLIAC Hitter of the Week award.

Dura went 6-for-10 at the plate in Wednesday's SLIAC sweep at Blackburn, driving in five runs and scoring three times. She went 4-for-5 in the opener, doubling twice and smashing her first home run of the season to fall a triple shy of the cycle. She drove in five runs in the Red Devils' 13-7 triumph. In game two, Dura tacked on two more hits to finish the twin bill with a 1.100 slugging percentage.

Through 86 games, Dura's career batting average of .485 remains the highest in Eureka softball history and ranks fourth among active players in NCAA Division III. She has 99 career RBI and needs one more run batted in to become just the third player in program history to reach 100 in a career. Additionally, Dura needs 10 more RBI to break the Red Devils' all-time mark of 108 held by Jami Larson (1990-93) and Dura's 44 career doubles are also nearing the Eureka record of 48 set by Allyson Carter (1994-97).

Dura and the Red Devils are scheduled to return to action Wednesday in a 3 p.m. SLIAC doubleheader at Iowa Wesleyan. Eureka and the Tigers split a doubleheader last spring. Tuesday's doubleheader at Knox has been postponed due to inclement weather.
