SLIAC Picks George, Wallace For Weekly Softball Awards

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Eureka College junior pitcher Kali George (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) was named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week and junior center fielder Krysten Wallace (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) was picked SLIAC Hitter of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon.

George has now won the award twice in 2017 and three times in her career after earning the honor on March 27 of this season. She picked up two conference wins in the circle last week for the Red Devils including EC's first win over Fontbonne since April 2008. George worked 12.0 scoreless innings, allowing just six hits while striking out four and walking none.

Through 32 games this spring, George owns a 9-7 record and a 2.26 ERA over 102.1 innings. She has 35 career victories, fourth-most in program history and 10 wins shy of tying Tina Sharp (1993-96) as the winningest picther in program history.

Wallace's selection is the first of her career. The left-handed center fielder hit .714 with three RBI and three stolen bases on the week. She also drew four walks and finished the week with a .833 on-base percentage. Wallace's best game was her 3-for-3 day that helped spark a Red Devils' come from behind win over Fontbonne.

Wallace broke EC's single-season record for walks last season with 25 and now has 54 for her career, second-most in the history of the program. Stephanie Mullens (1993-96) owns the Eureka career record with 57.

The Red Devils will play their final two games of the non-conference schedule on Tuesday in a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Knox in Galesburg, Ill.
