Erin Smith Named SLIAC Pitcher of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Less than 24 hours removed from firing a perfect game in her collegiate debut, Eureka College freshman pitcher Erin Smith (Dunlap, Ill./Dunlap H.S.) has been named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office Monday afternoon.

Smith retired all 15 batters she faced Sunday in the Red Devils' 13-0 run-rule victory over Lehman (N.Y.) at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. Smith struck out six in the victory, throwing 59 pitches and 42 strikes.

Monday's announcement marked Eureka's first SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honoree since Kali George (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria H.S.) received the award on March 28, 2016.

Smith and the Red Devils are in the midst of an eight-game spring trip that will conclude on Thursday.
