Westminster takes down Eureka in day one of SLIAC Tournament

ELSAH, Ill. – The Eureka College softball team fell 2-1 to Westminster College in day one of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, Thursday night at Principia College.

The Red Devils never were able to get the bats going, finishing 4-for-22 (.182) at the plate. The Red Devils lone run came courtesy of a sacrifice fly to right field from senior Savanna Tapper (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria).

Westminster capitalized on four EC errors, plating a run in the fourth and fifth frames.

Sophomore Kali George (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) allowed one earned run over seven innings of work, scattering eight hits and striking out two.

Eureka will look to bounce back tomorrow against regular season champion Fontbonne. First pitch against the Griffins is set for 1 p.m.
