Horton, Charlton Pace Eureka Track Team at Concordia

RIVER FOREST, Ill. -- Dazhee Horton (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bradley-Bourbonnais H.S.) won the triple jump with a leap of 13.93 meters and Brett Charlton (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) jumped 6.74 meters to win the long jump, leading the Eureka College track and field team Friday at the 2018 Concordia University Chicago Cougar Invitational at Concordia Stadium in River Forest, Ill.

The Eureka men's team totaled 29 team points to finish 11th out of 17 teams. The Eureka women finished the meet with 14 team points, also an 11th-place finish.

Horton's jump bested 10 other participants, including the jump of 13.66 meters by runner up Mervyn John of Lewis. Charlton's long jump win topped a field of 21 competitors.

Charlton also delivered the Red Devils' top showing in men's track event, finishing sixth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.52 seconds. Collin Aimone (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall H.S.) was 10th in the 400 meter dash in 53.13 secondsa and James Bowen (Homer Glen, Ill./Seneca H.S) was 17th in the 400 at 55.87 seconds.

Eureka's men's 400 meter relay team, comprised of LeAnthony Reasnover (Momence, Ill./Momence H.S.), Charlton, Horton and Aimone, came in third place with a final time of 43.48 seconds.

On the women's side, Annaliese Miller (Chenoa, Ill./Prairie Central H.S.) claimed second place in the high jump with a final leap of 1.30 meters. Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) was sixth in a pair of field events, throwing the discus 35.11 meters and the javelin 31.10 meters.
