Track and Field run and jump in Knox College Open

GALESBURG, Ill. – Eureka College senior Ellen Goins (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) took home a pair of third-place finishes, leading the women's track and field team to a 9th place finish in Saturday's Knox College Open in Galesburg, Ill.

Goins finished with a time of 2.25.82 in the women's 800 meter dash and crossed the finish line in the 1500 meter dash with a 5:10.03 split. Her time in the 1500 narrowly breaks the women's outdoor record set by Amy Heller (5:10.05) in 1988.

Freshman Johnathan Schertz finished the men's 100 meter wheelchair dash in 38.23, while sophomore Cooper Elam (Farmington, Ill./Farmington) placed 6th in the men's pole vault with a jump of 12.56 ft.

Freshman Josh Kuse (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) participated in the men's 100 meter dash (13th), 200 meter dash (21st) and long jump (11th).

The EC track and field team will be back in action on April 22nd up in Rock Island running in the Augie Invite.
