Goins paces EC Track & Field in True Blue Twilight

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College senior Ellen Goins (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) placed first in the women's 800 meter run and broke the school record with a time of 2:22.92, pacing the track and field team over the weekend in the True Blue Twilight hosted by Illinois College.

Goins mark breaks Sandy Socha's previous school record of 2:25:07 that was set in 1980.

Freshman Josh Kuse (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) had a fantastic showing, placing 7th in the men's long jump with a 18'8.5 (5.70 meters) jump and finishing 8th in the men's 100 meter dash in 11.39 seconds.

Sophomore Colton Johnson (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) added a 10th place finish in the men's javelin with a throw of 126'11 (38.68 meters) and junior Sam Dailey (Tuscola, Ill./Tuscola) nabbed a 12th place in men's discuss with a toss of 113'11.5 (34.73 meters).

The men's team took home a 9th place finish while the women secured 13th place.

The Red Devils will continue competition this weekend in the SLIAC Conference Championships.
