
Kabesa Earns Second SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week Award
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the second time this season, Eureka's Joyce Kabesa (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) has been named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals this week.
Kabesa began the week with a dramatic performance against Maranatha Baptist, scoring a late brace to lead the Red Devils to a 2-1 comeback victory. With Eureka trailing 1-0 in the second half, Kabesa netted two goals in the final minutes to flip the match and secure the win.
On Thursday, Kabesa recorded two shots in a 0-0 draw against Grace Christian.
He capped off the week with a goal in Sunday's 2-1 loss at Ripon, converting a 22nd minute penalty kick that gave the Red Devils a 1-0 lead. The goal marked Kabesa's 10th of the season, tying him for second in NCAA Division III in goals scored. He finished the match with five shots, including one on goal.
Kabesa and the Red Devils return to action Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. as they travel to Bloomington to face Illinois Wesleyan.
