EUREKA – The Eureka men's soccer team dropped a 4-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup against Spalding at McKinzie Field on Saturday.

The Red Devils started off well, but their plans went awry in the 18th minute, when Oliver Frankenfeld put the Golden Eagles on the board after a deflection off an EC player's head, the keeper's hand and the cross bar.

Reece Sharp's goal off a penalty kick in the 28th minute gave the visitors a two-goal advantage before halftime.

The Red Devils were never able to piece together an offensive response that could get them back in the match.

Spalding's Chadrack Mulodani scored off a corner kick in the78th, and Forte Bess added a final goal in the last three minutes.

Eureka goalkeeper Brayton Strawkas (Buffalo, Ill./Tri-City) tallied nine saves. Troy Arries (Cape Town. South Africa/Wynberg), Raphael Mungu (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) and Jake Edmondson (Monticello, Ill./Monticello)

The Red Devils (5-7-4, 2-3-2) will next take on Blackburn (1-12-2, 0-7 SLIAC) on the road in another highly-anticipated matchup that could go a long way toward deciding the SLIAC Tournament field.
