EUREKA – Eureka's Isaac Noriega (Chicago, Ill./Muchin Prep Academy/Lincoln) has been selected St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

The Red Devils' senior center back provided strong defense and leadership for the back line in Eureka's dramatic, 2-1 win over Webster on Friday. He and the Red Devils defense held the Gorloks scoreless for 70 minutes, and after the visitors equalized, Noriega helped keep the team together the rest of the way and record EC's first-ever win over Webster.

He is the second Red Devil to be named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Week this season, following Santiago Herrera (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Colegio Americano de Guayaquil/Lincoln), who received the honor on Sept. 6.

It's Eureka's third weekly award of the season, as Khalil Alleyne (Diego Martin, Trinidad/Fatima College/Lincoln) was named SLIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 11. The Red Devils didn't receive either award in the entire 2022 season.

Noriega and Alleyne currently lead the Red Devils with three goals apiece.

The Red Devils (4-4-3, 2-0-1 SLIAC) are looking to stay unbeaten in SLIAC play on Wednesday, when they host Fontbonne (6-4-2, 4-0 SLIAC) at 5 p.m.
