COLUMBUS, Miss. – The Eureka men's soccer team picked up a 1-1 draw on the road against new St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference foe Mississippi University for Women on Sunday.

After a scoreless first half, MUW got on the board with an unassisted goal by Mo Diallo in the 65th minute.

Just over five minutes later, the Red Devils came up with the equalizer.

Eureka's Tyler Russow (Streator, Ill./Streator/Illinois Valley Community College) received a pass across from Joyce Kabesa (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington/Blackburn) and sent it to the far post on a laser to make it 1-1.

It was Russow's first goal of the season and his third as a Red Devil, and it was Kabesa's first assist of the year.

Playing with 10 men from the 30th minute on, the maroon and gold kept the pressure on until the end, but they were never able to get ahead.

Khalil Alleyne (Diego Martin, Trinidad/Fatima College/Lincoln) recorded five shots on goal in six shots and Kabesa had three shots on goal as well. The team also nearly had multiple penalty-kick opportunities, but after mixed signals from the officials, none were awarded.

Eureka goalkeeper Brecken Cady (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) notched four saves in the match.

The result moved the team to 1-0-1 in league play and 3-4-3 on the season. It was the Red Devils' and the Owls' first conference meeting and third overall.

The Red Devils (3-4-3, 1-0-1 SLIAC) will next host Webster (3-5-1, 1-0 SLIAC) in a huge conference matchup on Friday at 5 p.m.
