Spalding Uses Big Second Half to Down Eureka, 6-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eureka men's soccer team held Spalding to two goals in the first half on the road on Saturday, but the Golden Eagles added four more in the second to seize a 6-0 win.

Luc Cesar, who came up with a pair of goals for the Golden Eagles, scored the first of the game on assist by Ethan Eckert in the 20th minute.

Reese Bohde made it 2-0 13 minutes later, scoring off an assist by Chris Encarnacion.

Cesar struck early in the second half, putting one away unassisted in the 48th minute. Braden Anderson, Kaleb Whiteside and Trenton Anderson all found the back of the net in the second half as well.

Will Wiegand (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) and Nathan Macario (Safford, Ariz./Safford) each put a shot on goal for the Red Devils in the loss. Goalkeeper Isaac Hughes (Westville, Ill./Westville) tallied 10 saves in net.

On Wednesday, the Red Devils (0-6, 0-4 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) will head back on the road to take on Webster (12-1-1, 7-1-1 SLIAC) at 7:30.

Then, on Friday, Eureka will host Fontbonne (1-5, 1-3 SLIAC) at 3 p.m. for Homecoming.
