EC Men's Soccer Draws with Lincoln Christian, 2-2

LINCOLN, Ill. – The Eureka men's soccer team couldn't break the stalemate against Lincoln Christian Friday evening, and the match finished in a 2-2 draw.

It was the Red Devils' (2-3-1) second overtime match of the season and first time ending in a draw.

Lincoln Christian drew first blood in the 18th minute as a through ball found the feet of Keaton Doty, who slotted it under EC goalkeeper Moises Aldana (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall).

Then, with 30 seconds remaining in the first half, lori Katakura (Tokyo, Japan/Kanto Interns) found himself with the ball at the top of the box and smashed a half-volley into the bottom-left corner of the net for his third goal of the season, tying the match at 1-1.

Michael Hansen (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) put the Red Devils up by a goal in the 53rd minute, when he received a through ball from midfielder Christian Marin (Whittier, Calif./California) and slotted the ball near-post past Lincoln Christian goalie Braden Smith. This gave him a team-leading five goals on the season.

However, the Red Lions would strike again this time in the 55th minute. Doty put the ball into the back of the net on a one-time volley off a Camden Radecki shot that was saved by Aldana. It remained tied after 110 minutes of play.

The Red Devils will face Webster next Saturday afternoon in their first home St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup of the year. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at McKinzie Field.
