EUREKA, Ill. -- The Eureka College men's soccer team received game-tying goals from junior James Bowen (Homer Glen, Ill./Seneca H.S.) and senior Brady Thomas (Mount Pulaski, Ill./Mount Pulaski H.S.) in the second half of Tuesday's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match against Iowa Wesleyan, but the Tigers tallied the match-winning goal in the 75th minute to escape with a 4-2 league win over the Red Devils at McKinzie Field.

Pablo Garcia gave the visitors a 1-0 lead with his 18th-minute goal. The Tigers were poised to make it 2-0 just 63 seconds later, but Eureka goalkeeper Alex Yates (Washington, Ill./Peoria Christian H.S.) stopped a penalty kick from Dave Chaves Duran at 18:39 to leave the score at 1-0.

Bowen knotted the score at 1-1 when he finished a corner kick from Thomas with a header at the far post in the 61st minute. IWU regained a 2-1 lead on Maxwell Trautmann's strike in the 68th minute, but Bowen and Thomas teamed up again later in the half to force another tie. Bowen's service from the right flank found Thomas wide open inside the 6-yard box. Thomas tucked his header underneath the cross bar for a 2-2 deadlock at 71:29.

Trautmann finished a pass from Dylan Lawerence in the 75th minute for the Tigers' match-winning goal. Lawerence added insurance with another tally at 78:13.

Bowen took three of the Red Devils' nine shots. He now has 27 career goals. Yates made seven saves in goal.

Eureka will play its final match of the season on Saturday in a 1 p.m. Senior Day start against Westminster at Traister Field.
