Principia Shuts Out Red Devils, 4-0

EUREKA, Ill. – Kaleb Keller scored the match-winning goal in the fourth minute, part of Principia's four-goal outburst in the first half, to lift the Panthers to a 4-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over the Eureka College men's soccer team Thursday at McKinzie Field.

Briggs Hurley was credited with an assist on the match-winner at 3:39. Keller, who entered the match ranked second among SLIAC players with eight goals scored, went on to score three times in the first 36 minutes. Kaden Keller tacked on additional insurance in the 37th minute.

Alex Yates (Washington, Ill./Peoria Christian H.S.) made a career-high 19 saves in his second collegiate start in goal for the Red Devils. Yates' save total on Thursday was the highest by a Red Devil in 2017 and tied for fifth-most in a match in the 11-year history of Eureka men's soccer.

Cristian Marin (Whittier, Calif./California H.S.) and Michael Hansen (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) registered shot attempts for the Red Devils.

Eureka will continue the league schedule Saturday in a 5 p.m. start at Greenville.
