Bowen, Red Devils Roll Past Iowa Wesleyan

EUREKA, Ill. – Freshman midfielder James Bowen (Homer Glen, Ill./Seneca) scored the third hat trick of the season for the Red Devils, lifting the host past Iowa Wesleyan, 3-1, in a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests, Tuesday afternoon at Traister Field. The six wins now represent the most wins in a season in school history for a program that was established in 2007.

Bowen struck early and often in the first half for the Red Devils, notching his first strike in the 11th minute on a rebounded shot right in front of the net.

Ninety seconds later, freshman defender Brock Musoiu (Carbondale, Ill./Carbondale) sent a pass that cleared the Tiger defenders and allowed for Bowen to get a clean shot on net for the game winning goal.

Bowen completed his first collegiate hat trick in the 19th minute off a pass from freshman midfielder Tim Johnson(Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) extended the Eureka lead to 3-0 before intermission.

Sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Johnson (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) collected five saves en route to his sixth goalie decision of the season.

Eureka (6-6-0, 1-4-0) will continue conference play on Thursday with a 1 p.m. contest against the Blackburn Beavers.
