Eureka Moves to 3-0 in SLIAC Play with 84-69 Win at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Eureka men's basketball team improved to 6-2 on the season and 3-0 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with an 84-69 road win over Spalding on Saturday.

This is the first time Eureka has started SLIAC play 3-0 since the 2009-10 season, and only the second time since the Red Devils joined the SLIAC in 2006.

Leading scorers Chris Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) and Ian Milsteadt (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) each racked up 22 points. Daniels shot 8-for-18 from the field, made 6-of-7 from the free-throw line and dished four assists. Milsteadt went 7-of-16 from the field and 8-of-10 from the line and gathered nine rebounds and three assists.

J'Len Crawford (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) added 10 points, four boards and two assists off the bench, while Charlie McKinty (Elmwood, Ill./Elmwood) tied his career-high of nine and Jaedon Banks (Peoria Heights, Ill./Peoria Heights) added eight points to go with a team-high 12 boards and two blocks.

Andrew Gonzalez (Mundelein, Ill./Mundelein) contributed six rebounds and four points.

The Red Devils held Spalding to 37.7 percent shooting and outscored the Golden Eagles 52-28 in the paint. The visitors led almost the entire game and stretched a seven-point halftime lead to 15 in the second half.

Eureka (6-2, 3-0 SLIAC) has now won four in a row. The Red Devils will look to continue their roll with a home bout against Fontbonne (2-6, 1-3 SLIAC) on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
