Red Devils Record First Loss at Illinois College, 76-68

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Eureka's Chris Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) and Ian Milsteadt (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) both racked up big points, but the rest of the Red Devils couldn't get going offensively in a 76-68 loss at Illinois College on Thursday.

The Blueboys took a 47-33 lead into halftime after a late 3-pointer by Troy Burrows and led by as many as 19 in the second half.  The Red Devils whittled it down to seven points in the final five minutes and came within six in the last two, but they didn't have enough time to close the gap.

Daniels, who received St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors this week, dropped 28 points on 9-of-25 shooting from the floor and 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. He also notched seven rebounds.

Milsteadt, who put up career-high 33 points in a win over Fontbonne this week, scored 26 on 9-of-19 shooting from the floor and gathered a team-high 10 rebounds. He also made two steals and didn't commit a turnover on the night.

Jalen Hosea (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) was next in scoring with five points on a pair of buckets in the second half.

Illinois College's Jake Mazrimas posted a team-high 20 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Burrows and Hunter Ottensmeirer added 16 and 12 points, respectively.

The win moved the Blueboys to 4-1 on the season. The Red Devils (2-1) will next face Cornell College ( ) on the road Monday at 7 p.m.
