EUREKA — After a historic season, the Eureka College men's basketball team will be recognized by Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis and the Peoria City Council on Tuesday night.

Head coach Chip Wilde and the Red Devils will be on hand as the mayor issues a proclamation at City Hall in the team's honor.

This winter, the Eureka men put a spotlight on central Illinois after seizing their first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title and qualifying for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.

The Red Devils won seven times in the month of February, including five of their last six regular-season conference games, to secure a bid to the SLIAC Tournament on the last day of the regular season.

The team garnered the support of a legion of admirers along the way, including U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood, who last month praised the team's "never-give-up spirit" in front of the U.S. House of Representatives.
