U.S. Rep. Darin LaHood Recognizes NCAA Tourney-bound EC Men’s Basketball

EUREKA – U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood addressed the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday afternoon, and sang the praises of the Eureka College men's basketball team.

Eureka is set to make its NCAA Division III Tournament debut on Friday at 7:30, when they take on No. 1 Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb, after capturing the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tourney title against Webster last weekend.

The EC men had to win their last four conference games to earn a spot in the conference tournament in the first place.

"The never-give-up spirit embodied by the team is a testament to the great work done by coach Chip Wilde," LaHood said. "And I have no doubt it will carry them through the tournament.

"Our community in central Illinois is immensely proud of the historic accomplishment of this year's Eureka men's basketball team."

The Red Devils were surprised and honored to learn a video of the Congressman's address was being shared on social media on Thursday while they were in route to Lincoln.
