Red Devils to Make NCAA Tourney Debut at Nebraska Wesleyan Friday

EUREKA – On Monday, in a room full of its biggest supporters, the Eureka College men's basketball team learned which team it will face in its long-awaited first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance.

The Red Devils (13-14) will take on Nebraska Wesleyan (26-1) in first-round action Friday at 7:30 p.m. inside Nebraska Wesleyan's Snyder Arena in Lincoln, Neb.

The two squads will play after No. 9 University of St. Thomas (22-4) and Wisconsin-La Cross (17-9) face off at 5:30 p.m.

The Friday winners will then play in a second-round showdown Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Prairie Wolves, who are making their 16th NCAA tournament appearance, are the defending Division III champions and the No. 1 team in the nation.

The EC men captured their first NCAA tourney bid Saturday after clinching the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title with a 70-69 victory over Webster.

EC and NWU are two of the highest scoring teams in the nation, with the Red Devils averaging 93.6 points per game and the Prairie Wolves averaging 91 a night.
