Eureka College to Recognize Chip Wilde Saturday

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College will recognize men's basketball head coach Chip Wilde for 10 years of service to the College Saturday prior to the Red Devils' 7 p.m. St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Blackburn at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center.

Eureka men's basketball alumni are invited to attend the event scheduled to begin immediately following the women's contest at approximately 6:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the Hall of Fame Room.

The 15th head coach in program history and the owner of 113 victories at EC since his arrival on campus in the summer of 2007, Wilde is the fourth-winningest coach in the 98-year history of Eureka College men's basketball. The Macomb, Ill. native has led the Red Devils to three SLIAC Tournament semifinal appearances and four top-three finishes in the final league standings, including a third-place showing a year ago.

In all, Wilde has coached two SLIAC Players of the Year, 15 All-SLIAC selections, five SLIAC All-Tournament Team selections, four SLIAC All-Defensive Team picks and 29 SLIAC Player of the Week choices.

Off the court, Wilde has mentored 31 Eureka College graduates, nine SLIAC All-Academic honorees, 10 NABC Academic Honors Court selections and two Ronald Reagan Fellows.

 

Eureka is 9-5 this season and in the hunt for another SLIAC Tournament bid with a 4-4 league mark.
