Spalding uses dominate second half to upend Eureka

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Eureka College men's basketball senior guard Sam Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Illinois Central]) poured in 19 points, while classmate Greg Kent (Chicago, Ill./Richards [Blackhawk]) notched his second consecutive double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds, but Spalding outscored Eureka 53-33 in the second half to run away with a 74-66 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory, Saturday afternoon inside Derek Smith Gymnasium in Louisville, Ky.

Freshman forward Alex Wiegand (Washington, Ill./Washington) added a season-high 17 points for EC. Kent filled the box score, adding five of the visitor's seven assists, and tallying seven steals. The Red Devils outscored the Golden Eagles in the paint, 34-12. Eureka was just 12-for-25 (.480) from the free throw line.

SU's Dominique Ellis erupted for a game-high 28 points off the bench, scoring 26 in the second half of play. The Golden Eagles shot 15-for-30 (.500) from the field and 8-for-14 (.571) from the 3-point line over the final 20 minutes of play.
