Eureka comes out on wrong end of shoot out

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College men's basketball freshmanShea Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Lewis]) exploded for a season-high 34 points, while brother senior Sam Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Illinois Central]) added 28, but the MacMurray Highlanders outscored the Red Devils 105-100 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, Wednesday night inside Wall Gymnasium.

Eureka drops to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in conference play. The Highlanders rise to 12-8 overall and 9-4 in the SLIAC.

The younger Feehan finished a red-hot 15-of-20 (.750) from the field, the first Red Devil to knock down 15 field goals in game this season. He snagged eight rebounds, all on the defensive end of the floor.

Senior Tommy Goulding (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora [Aurora]) chipped in eleven points, including a trio of three-point field goals.

Freshman Alex Wiegand (Washington, Ill./Washington) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, and senior Greg Kent(Chicago, Ill./Richards [Blackhawk]) supplied four of Eureka's 12 assists on the night.

The Red Devils made 42-of-78 (.538) shot attempts from the field, but connected on only 7-of-27 (.259) three-point tries. MacMurray shot 35-of-68 (.515) from the floor and a blazing 17-of-31 (.548) from the arc.

Mac's Kollin Keltner led a MacMurray offense that featured six players in double figures scoring 23 points. Brett Long added a double-double, scoring 16 points and seizing 14 boards.

Eureka will be back on the road this Saturday, traveling to Fulton, Mo. for a 6 p.m. league contest against the Westminster Blue Jays.
