Red Devils close out regular season with victory at Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Senior Sam Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Illinois College]) scored a season-high 37 points and classmateTommy Goulding (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora [Aurora]) poured in 25, lifting the Eureka College men's basketball team to a 115-113 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over Greenville, Saturday afternoon inside H.J. Long Gymnasium.

Eureka closes out the season on a four-game winning streak and finishes the regular season campaign with a 12-13 overall and 10-8 conference mark. Greenville drops to 13-12 and 12-6 in league play. EC's 115 points are the most points scored in Chip Wilde's tenure at Eureka.

Junior Parker Gibson (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac [St. John's NW Military Academy]) added 16 points and 10 rebounds, while senior Greg Kent (Chicago, Ill./Richards [Blackhawk]) tallied 12 points and 13 rebounds for a pair of double-doubles.

Six Panthers scored in double figures led by Michael Hohm with 24 points. The Panthers forced nineteen EC turnovers on nineteen steals behind their up-tempo style of play that features quick shots, full-court press and frequent substitutions.

Eureka shot the ball extremely efficiently, finishing 44-of-77 (.571) from the floor, including 66 points in the paint. Greenville fired 106 shots from the floor, hitting 40 of them.

Feehan finishes the season with a 22.1 points per game average, setting the new EC mark for scoring average in a single season. EC Hall of Famer Greg Crider held the previous record after finishing the 1995-96 season with a 21.9 scoring average.

The Red Devils closed the 2015-16 season with a 12-13 overall record and a 10-8 SLIAC mark.
