Peoria Chiefs to Honor EC Football, Men’s Basketball May 2

PEORIA, Ill. — Mark your calendars, Red Devil fans. On May 2, the Peoria Chiefs are planning to recognize Eureka's 2018 football team and 2018-2019 men’s basketball team for capturing conference championships this year at their home game at Dozer Park.

EC football head coach Kurt Barth and men’s basketball head coach Chip Wilde will each throw ceremonial first pitches, and both teams will be introduced before the game.

Tickets for the game are $9 and can be purchased on groupmatics.events/event/ RedDevils.

First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. The Chiefs are hosting the Dayton Dragons and it’s a Beer and Brat Thirsty Thursday, which means 12-ounce domestic cans and soda are $2, margaritas and brats are $3 and 16-ounce craft drafts are $4.

Last fall, EC football went 9-2, seized the conference crown in its first season in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference and earned the squad’s second straight trip to the NCAA Division III playoffs.

This past winter, EC men’s basketball clinched its first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament title and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time in program history.
