Jim Cornelison to Sing National Anthem Prior to Nov. 10 Football Game

EUREKA – Renowned vocalist Jim Cornelison will sing the Star Spangled Banner prior to the Eureka College football game on Saturday, Nov. 10 at McKinzie Field. Cornelison, who has served as the national anthem singer of the Chicago Blackhawks since 2008, will perform as part of Eureka's Veterans Day recognition during the Red Devils' regular-season finale against Rockford at 1 p.m.

Veterans will receive free admission to the game versus Rockford and will also be invited to the field to participate in a pregame recognition ceremony.

Cornelison has been the national anthem singer of the Chicago Blackhawks since the 2008-09 hockey season. His renown has risen along with the Blackhawks emergence as a powerhouse in the NHL, including Stanley Cup victories in 2010, 2013 and 2015. His unique yet traditional rendition of the Star Spangled Banner has most recently lead to him being asked to perform at various professional and college sporting events, including the NBA, NFL and the Indianapolis 500.

In addition to the Red Devils' football game against Rockford, Eureka College will host its annual Family Day on Nov. 10. A variety of activities will be available across campus, including a Science Open House at 8:30 a.m., an 11:30 a.m. Dean's Lecture from Associate Professor of Spanish Dr. Emily Eaton titled From Escape to Exhumation: 70 Years in the Valley of the Fallen and campus tours throughout the day. The Eureka men's basketball team will open its season at 7:30 p.m. against Monmouth at the Reagan Athletic Complex and Eureka College Theater will present The Imprimatur at 7:30 p.m. in Pritchard Theater.
