GREENVILLE – The Eureka baseball team dropped a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests at Greenville on Tuesday, falling 15-1 and 5-2.

Game 1: Greenville 15, Eureka 1 (7 inn.)

Greenville used four pitchers to limit Eureka to one run on four hits and three walks and notched six strikeouts in seven innings.

The Red Devils' lone run came on an RBI single by Gabe Peters (Washington, Ill./Washington/Mount Mercy) in the fifth inning following a double from Joshua Frenden (New Port Richey, Fla./River Ridge/Philander Smith). The other two hits came from Cole Tanner (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Knox) and Garrett Flaagan (Eagle, Colo./Eagle Valley/Williston State).

The Panthers tallied 15 runs on 13 hits in the opener.

Game 2: Greenville 5, Eureka 2

The Red Devils couldn't come up with the rally they needed at the right time in the nightcap.

After falling into a 4-0 hole after a three-run third for the Panthers, Eureka got two runs back in the fourth.

In the fifth, though, Greenville manufactured another run to take a three-run lead.

The Red Devils put two runners on in the seventh and the ninth, but the Panthers were able to leave both stranded on both occasions.

Frenden produced a two-run double in the fifth to drive in both of EC's runs. Jackson Green (Terrell, Texas/Terrell/Bacone) and Mike Dunne (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Lincoln Land) preceded him with a single and a walk, respectively.

Eureka finished with seven hits. Green went 2-for-4, while Flaagan, Sam Buduris (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka Community/McKendree, Dunne and Brandt King (Rockford, Ill./Stillman Valley/Ripon) all singled to go with Frenden's double.

Starter pitcher Brayden Willaims (Chouteau, Okla./Poteau/Bacone) took the loss after allowing four earned runs on five hits and five walks in 4 2/3 innings. Nick Rulevish (Addieville, Okawville) turned in 3 1/2 scoreless innings in relief, fanning five batters and allowing just one run and one hit.
