ST. LOUIS – After notching a big win in his first start as a Red Devil, Eureka's Colton Yanish (La Salle, Ill./La Salle-Peru/Illinois Valley) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

The junior transfer southpaw fanned eight batters over four innings in the maroon and gold's 16-1 victory over Maranatha Baptist on March 4 at Henry Sand Field. He only allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks to guide EC to its first win of the 2024 season.

Yanish is the first Eureka pitcher to receive the honor since Mike Dunne (Bartonville, Ill. / Limestone/Lincoln Land) claimed the award for the third time last spring on May. He is the first Red Devil under first-year coach Noah Suarez to garner the weekly league honor.

Through nine games, Eureka stands at 4-5 on the season. The Red Devils will return to Henry Sand Field on Sunday for a home doubleheader against Illinois College at 12 p.m.
