Sean Green Voted to All-SLIAC Third Team

GREENVILLE, Ill. – Eureka College junior center fielder Sean Green (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S./Robert Morris-Peoria) has been named to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Third Team, Interim SLIAC Commissioner Brian Lovellette announced Thursday night at the league tournament in Greenville, Ill. Green led the Red Devils in nine offensive categories and ranked third in the league with a .488 on-base percentage in 21 conference appearances.

Eureka Splits With MacMurray, Finishes SLIAC Slate

EUREKA, Ill. – Sean Green (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S./Robert Morris-Peoria) scored three runs and fell a double short of the cycle and Gregory Cluskey (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora H.S.) pitched into the ninth inning to secure his third win of the season in the Eureka College baseball team’s 7-6 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over MacMurray, Wednesday afternoon. The visitors won game one, 10-2, to split the league twin bill.

Red Devils Come Up Empty Wednesday at Spalding

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Sean Green (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S./Robert Morris-Peoria) and Kyle Finke (Argenta, Ill./Argenta-Oreana H.S.) hit their first home runs in a Eureka uniform in game one and Joe Quinn (Coal City, Ill./Coal City H.S./Illinois Valley) drilled a go-ahead two-run double in the nightcap, but host Spalding held off a late EC rally to win the opener 9-8 and later used a rally of its own to best the Red Devils in game two, 7-4, to sweep a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader at Derby City Field on Wednesday in Louisville, Ky.

Eureka Completes Season Series Sweep of Iowa Wesleyan, 14-5

EUREKA, Ill. – Ray Vogel (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone H.S.) doubled twice as part of a four-hit effort and Mason Diederich (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) didn’t allow an earned run in 6.1 innings of relief in the Eureka College baseball team’s 14-5 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Iowa Wesleyan at Henry Sand Field, Monday afternoon. The victory gave the Red Devils a three-game series sweep of the Tigers, Eureka’s first SLIAC sweep since April 2013.

Westminster Sweeps Eureka Sunday, Secures Series Win

EUREKA, Ill. – Westminster used a six-run third inning to break open a 7-0 win in game one and also secured a big lead early in the nightcap before holding on for a 6-4 victory and a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division doubleheader sweep of the Eureka College baseball team, Sunday afternoon at Henry Sand Field. The victories allowed the Blue Jays to take two out of three contests in the weekend series.

CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Kody Silverthorn (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S./Parkland) threw a complete game for his second consecutive victory and Braxten Ary (Manito, Ill./Midwest Central H.S.) provided the go-ahead RBI to send the Eureka College baseball to its sixth consecutive win in a 6-4 victory over Blackburn in the opener of Wednesday’s St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader opener. The Beavers ended the Red Devils’ streak with a 9-2 triumph to in game two to save a twin bill split.

LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College senior left-hander Isaiah Taylor (Princeton, Ill./Princeton H.S./Illinois Valley) has been named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference/Diamond Sports Pitcher of the Week, according to a Monday afternoon announcement from the league office. Taylor struck out a career-high 17 hitters in a 9.0-inning complete-game victory at Iowa Wesleyan on Friday night.

Eureka Sweeps Iowa Wesleyan, Runs Win Streak to Five

MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa – The Eureka College baseball team ran its win streak to five games for the first time in nearly eight years and secured its first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference series victory since April 2015 with a West Division doubleheader sweep of Iowa Wesleyan, Friday night in Mount Pleasant, Iowa. Eureka rolled to a 12-4 win in the opener and also won game two 6-2 behind 17 strikeouts from left-hander Isaiah Taylor (Princeton, Ill./Princeton H.S./Illinois Valley).

VERONA, Wis. – Kyle Cashdollar (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S.) fired a four-hitter in game two of Wednesday’s doubleheader at Edgewood for the Eureka College baseball team’s first complete-game shutout in more than four years and Evan Smith (Moline, Ill./Moline H.S./Sauk Valley) hit a two-run single to set the tone in the opener as the Red Devils swept the non-conference twin bill from the Eagles at Stampfl Field in Verona, Wis. Eureka won the opener in eight innings, 6-5, and blanked the Eagles in the nightcap, 5-0.

EUREKA, Ill. -- Joe Quinn (Coal City, Ill./Coal City H.S./Illinois Valley) gave up one run on three hits in a complete-game effort and Grant Mullin (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) drilled the go-ahead solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Eureka College baseball team to a 2-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division triumph over 25th-ranked Webster, Sunday afternoon at Henry Sand Field. The Gorloks earned a 7-6 win earlier Sunday in the resumption of the middle game of the weekend series.

EUREKA, Ill. -- Jake Carter (Carlinville, Ill./Carlinville H.S.) slugged his first collegiate home run in the fourth inning of Saturday's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference West Division series opener against 25th-ranked Webster, but the Gorloks struck early to secure a 7-1 win league over the Eureka baseball team. Saturday's nightcap was suspended by darkness with the Gorloks in front 6-5 after seven innings and will be resumed at noon Sunday prior to the regularly scheduled 9-inning game.

CHILLICOTHE, Ill. – David Throw (Cary, Ill./Cary-Grove H.S.) struck out eight over 6.1 innings to earn his second collegiate win, Mason Diederich (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S.) recorded the final two outs for his third career save and Sean Green (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S./Robert Morris-Peoria) delivered the go-ahead RBI double in the fifth inning to send the Eureka College baseball team to a 5-3 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Principia in the opener of a league doubleheader in Chillicothe, Ill. The Panthers broke a scoreless tie in the eighth inning of the nightcap en route to a 1-0 win.
