Four Red Devils Named to SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka College softball senior Bridget Bankes (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) and baseball sophomores Kyle Cashdollar (Morton, Ill./Morton H.S.), Grant Mullin (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) and Jeremy Sinople (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Rita) have been named to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Spring All-Academic Team, the league announced Wednesday.

Student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have been enrolled in at least one full year at their current institution to be eligible for the award.

An elementary education major, Bankes hit .359 over 124 plate appearances and 36 starts as the Red Devils' third baseman. She compiled 27 runs, eight doubles, a triple, two home runs and 22 RBI in her final collegiate campaign. Her .515 slugging percentage ranked second among EC hitters to average at least three plate appearances per game.

Cashdollar completed his first collegiate baseball season in 2017 after an injury kept him off the diamond a year ago. One EC's first options out of the bullpen, the business administration major tossed 18.1 innings over 14 relief appearances. He struck out 12 hitters for the campaign, including consecutive outings with three punch outs at Webster and at Iowa Wesleyan late in the season.

Mullin, a business administration and accounting major, played in 28 contests during his sophomore season. He hit .280 in 111 plate appearances, totaling 16 runs, nine doubles, a home run and 17 RBI as the Red Devils' every-day catcher. Mullin clubbed his first career home run and drove in five runs to lift EC to a 6-5 extra-inning win over Fontbonne at Henry Sand Field on April 2.

Sinople played in nine games as a reserve outfielder, finishing the campaign 5-for-20 with a double and two runs scored. He logged a pair of multi-hit games in SLIAC starts against Fontbonne on April 2 and Westminster on May 7. Sinople, a high school teammate of Mullin, is majoring in business administration.
