Aydt's Three-Run Double Fuels Red Devils to Victory

Jacksonville, Ill. -- The Red Devils broke from conference play today, defeating the Illinois College Blueboys by a score of 6-5. Senior Seth Aydt's (Washington, Ill./Washington) ninth inning double scored three runs to take the lead. This brings Aydt to nine runs batted in on the season.

The Red Devils scored early in the game by a two-RBI single by sophomore Ray Vogel (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) during the first inning. Defense remained strong through two inning, but in the third inning, an error cost Eureka an unearned run. Senior John Kurtz (Minooka, Ill./Minooka) remained strong through 7.1 innings, only allowing three earned runs, walking one and striking out two.

Freshman Grant Mullin's (Hegewisch, Ill./St. Rita) ninth inning at-bat scored one run to get the rally going for Aydt.

Senior Nick Finney (Washington, Ill./Washington) picked up his first win of the season after pitching the remaining 1.2 innings, only allowing one hit and striking out two.

The Red Devils (3-9, 1-3 SLIAC) will resume SLIACtion on Tuesday at Henry Sand Field versus Iowa Wesleyan for a double header, with the first pitch at 1 pm.
